Martin Luther King

Hi everyone,
We are approaching speech week and we have been working on the fearrr model. We had to highlight where the fearrr model is used in Martin Luther King I have a dream. This is what I thought. What I found hard was the blue which stands for Facts & opinions. What I enjoyed was working with my mum on it.

Is math the same?

Hi everyone, over the past weeks in lockdown we have been doing math and this is what we have been doing. Doing the tasks here are sometimes hard because Mrs. Hall isn't here to help me but my mum is here and she has been helping me and Mrs. Hall has video chats that we join so we can ask questions and see all our friends. What I have enjoyed about this is my mum is always there if I need her. I am still wounding if we will get to do math grids( P.S. I have been practicing).

Tiny is Best

Hi everyone,
Over the past week in lockdown😢, my mum and I have been making a tiny garden room that we started at the start of the year. We got some more done but we are not nearing the finish yet.  I enjoyed being with my mum and the satisfaction of getting something right. I am wondering if we will ever finish it but I know I had fun doing it. I learned 1 that you should be patient with things and read the instructions and 2 stay calm when it doesn't go right. Last but not least 3 Keep a positive attitude towards yourself and others. These are some of the things we made and a quote by Henry Ford.

It's time for music!

Hi everyone,

Today we went to the museum. Our teacher's name was Koka Ora and she was super cool. We learned about the hue and some super cool traditional Maori instruments. They are made from all-natural materials like wood, flax & pawa. What I enjoyed was getting to make the purerehua which was one of the instruments that we saw & we got to make our own. I am still wondering about how they make the sound they make maybe, it's the vibrations.

A river being a person! WHAT??!

Hi everyone,
About a week ago we went to the wild lab and learned about the mayfly did you know that they are nearly endangered. So a couple of days ago we made possessive arguments about why the Wimata River should be a person. I enjoyed sharing my thoughts and writing what I think.

Vege car

Hi everyone,
In the past week, we have been reading about a vege car this is my question mark which tells you about the story I learned that a car can run on biofuel and fish and chips oil. I enjoyed learning about this subject because it gave us a hint on what we are going to be doing with the bottles Mrs Hall is telling us to bring into class.

What are Tawhirimatea's Favourite Pets

Hi everyone,
Yesterday we went around and asked the class what pet they liked the most the options were Dog, Cat, Rabbit, or Horse then we got our results and put them in a graph to show the data. I learned that we can make different colored bars in our graph and that most of the class love dogs.

What's my score?

Hi everyone,
Today we did our first math grid of term 2. Guess what I got... 84 I don't think that is that bad. I want to improve my math score, to do that I am going to use my old math book to do my own grids so that I can practice. I am also going to get my mum to get me a times tables sheet that I can put on my bedroom wall.

Museum Fun

Hi everyone,
Last term we went to the museum and learned about navigation, the waka haurua, stars, and the tools the Maori used to use when building things.

Navigation

We learned about all the different navigators like Captain Cook/Tupia, Maui, Kupe, and Pawa, and Kiwa.
These are all famous navigators. Captain Cook and Tupaia came to NZ a long long time ago and before they came Captain Cook went to the pacific islands and met Tupia who wanted to come with them on the endeavor to NZ Captain Cook said yes. When they got to NZ Tupia learned that his language is close to Maori so they could understand each other sadly on the gaerny back home to England Tupia sadly died.
Maui, Kupe and pawa, and kiwi are all Maori legends and are part of their history.

Moari Tools

Some Maori tools are the Toki a carving tool, the Tuwiri a tool that has a sharp stone a the end and can make holes in wood, and some materials that they used are whalebones, flax, rocks, and native woods. They would use these tools and materials to make waka and huts.

BEST SCORE YET!

Hi everyone,
Today we did our weekly math grid and I got my BEST SCORE YET 73/100. Well, we didn't have the 12 times table to do {Which I find a bit hard} but we had the 20s. I learned that there is a trick to the 20s and I used it and it made it way easier. I enjoyed being proud of my self when I found out that I got 73. My last highest score was 69/100 so I got 4 more than last time in 6:00 minutes. I am wondering when I am going to get 100/100. Bye👋
